Hope Bohanec has been active in animal protection and environmental activism for over 20 years and is a nationally recognized leader and speaker in the animal protection movement. She is currently serving as Projects Manager for United Poultry Concerns as well as the Executive Director of Compassionate Living, a Sonoma County, California based vegan outreach organization. Before this, Hope offered her organizational talents as the Campaigns Director at In Defense of Animals. Hope the primary organizer for the annual Conscious Eating Conference at UC Berkeley as well as the Sonoma County VegFest. Hope is working on her second book, The Humane Hoax, and lives with her soul mate and co-author, Cogen Bohanec, in Sonoma County, California, just an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Cogen Bohanec has received his Masters Degree in Buddhist Studies from the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) and has studied Sanskrit at UC Berkeley for seven years. He holds a Bachelors Degree in History from Sonoma State University and is a third degree black belt in Shotakan Karate. He is the owner and chief instructor of Sonoma Yoga Martial Arts in Penngrove, California where he teaches both Karate and Yoga. He has spent over a decade assisting Hope with numerous animal protection and environmental issues, as well as being a co-author and co-lecturer with her in a variety of articles and presentations.
